Well here we are in October already, where has the time gone?, Joshua is doing really well, and of course is still smiling, he is especially happy, because work has started on his bedroom/shower room, ( WE HAVE HAD THE FOUNDATIONS COMPLETED) but we have been held up with waiting for the grant to be agreed, but hopefully we should hear soon. We still need to raise the extra funds to complete the work, but in the mean time his mum and dad have given up their bedroom so Joshua can have his own room, they will use the lounge, not an ideal situation, but they have said Joshua has been waiting long enough, it is too far, and costly to have to travel to Stoke Mandeville for each time he needs a shower. Which of course we all take for granted when we use our own bathrooms daily, this is something Joshua has been denied for the past 19 months. We are still hoping this will be completed by Christmas.

September: Joshua is doing really well, and is back at school he has been joined by his sister Georgia, who had her 11th birthday in the holidays, good luck Georgia.  I  would like to say thank you to everyone who has been helping us with the RAISE THE ROOF  fund. also to the wonder guys who have offered their services free for this project. It would be a wonderful present to Joshua and his family if we could get this done by Christmas

August: Joshua is doing fine, he has had a couple of trips to the hospital, just for routine treatment. Physio is going well, and of course he is still smiling.

July: Well the  summer holidays are again with us, lets hope it will be better weather than last year, Joshua is doing really well, growing into a wonderful young man.

June:  First of all I must apologise for not keeping this up to date, because of  personal matters, taking up a lot of my time these last few months, I have not had be able to do it. Joshua has been making wonderful progress these last few month, except for a couple of trips to the hospital, he has been fine.  He is still receiving private physio, plus we have purchased him a machine which helps to build up the  upper and lower body muscles and this he can do sat in his wheelchair, Sadly the wheelchair we got him last year has been returned, and most of the money has been refunded back into his trust fund. We have now replaced it with an electric wheelchair, and Joshua is delighted with it. he has regained a certain amount of independence  that he has not had since his illness. We all had a wonderful day on Sun 29th June. Trants Construction arranged a sponsored walk through the new forest and lunch and a fun day for all after, at the Beaulieu road station hotel

March, Joshua has been having private Physio, which we have to pay for from his Trust Fund because we have never been able to get anyone from the NHS to help which is not a surprise to us. Joshua & his family also attended a lovely night at the Hythe Social Club, where Lawrie McMenemy presented Joshua with a cheque for £3,000, from the members of Hythe Social Club. He has done really well in school, he brought home his progress report and he got straight A's in everything. Well Done Joshua.

.....

February, Joshua has had another good month except for his mum falling down the stairs and breaking 2 bones in her ankle, she spent 10 days in hospital and is now in plaster, she also has a wheelchair, but she is not as fast as Joshua.

.....

January, Joshua has had another spell in Stoke Mandeville Hospital, but is ok now. He is back at school & doing really well.

.....

December, Joshua had a chest infection and spent a couple of weeks back in Stoke Mandeville Hospital on the last couple of days Joshua's mum Alison was aloud to take him out for the day to Slough, but while they were there some low life stole Alison's purse. I hope they feel proud of themselves. They had a good month overall, the whole family enjoyed Christmas together.

.....

November 18th, Vospers FC vs. The Tin Hut at Woolston held a charity football match for Joshua it was such a wet day, but those great guys still played. We all had a lovely time after at the British legion club, we were treated like royalty.

.....

October , The Jeremy Kyle Show with Joshua which will be televised this month (watch on YouTube now), We also had a family wedding, Joshua's cousin Kerry married Mark it was a lovely day. He also has had a couple of weeks back in stoke Mandeville hospital.

October has been another busy month, but exciting, Joshua and all of his family attended a ceremony at Lords Cricket Ground London, for Joshua to receive The 2007 Well Child  Bravery Award for boys age 12-16yrs, he was also presented with a medal, from Prince Harry to celebrate 30yrs of Well Child. He meet a lot of stars, who attended, West life, Dick & Dom, stars from Celebrity Dancing, stars from Nickelodeon, and NAN'S IDOL Rod Stuart. That made my day, We all had a lovely time. Joshua has had more hours at school, which is a good thing, he gets to be with his mates.

August has been a busy month for Joshua and his family, they had a  holiday at a holiday resort in the west country, kindly paid for by his Aunty Maureen and Uncle Mike, but sadly the weather was not kind to them, and the second week they came home, and went out for day trips, but they all enjoyed the break. Again today 3rd Sept he has had to go back to Stoke Mandeville Hospital for further treatment. Hopefully he will only be there for a short time, but that means he will miss the start of school term again.

Well Joshua has amazed us all, he has adjusted to his new way of life, with such a positive attitude, he is an inspiration to us all, hopefully soon, he will be able to return to school. To start with, he will only attend part time, but I don't think he will mind too much.

Next Friday 29th Joshua will be home for good. He has made such good progress, that medically the doctors cannot do any more for him. Its now rehabilitation, which he has been doing at Stoke Mandeville, and now he can  continue at home, with the support of his family and a care package etc physio team which will be put in place. But most important is all the support he is getting at the moment from all you wonderful people, who have been so kind to us all. Without you, we would not have coped, keep up the good work. Thank you

Joshua is still making excellent progress, he had his first weekend at home, he thoroughly enjoyed himself, we even managed, (with the help of some strong members of the club) to get him into Ashlett Social Club, where they presented Joshua with a cheque for £1000.00. This he really enjoyed.

Joshua is making excellent progress, he has been working really hard with his Physio, but of course some days he feels a little down, but never for long, he soon bounces back to his normal cheeky self. We have been told if he keeps this up, there might be a chance that he will be able to come home for a weekend, in a few weeks time, how we are going to get him home, we are not sure, anyone got a spare helicopter we can borrow? one big enough to take a wheelchair. He sends he love to all his family and friends, who he misses so much, and hopes you all enjoy your half term break.

well did you all see our star on TV & in the newspapers, didn't he do well, he will be charging us all for his autograph next, that's alright, so long as he puts it in his trust fund, Mum and Dad took him to the cinema last week, which he enjoyed, but apparently they were the only ones in the place, I wonder why. But I think the highlight of his week was seeing his friends from school, who visited him on Sunday. Everyone at the hospital are pleased with his progress, although he has a moan about the Physio, but he still perseveres.

We  were allowed to take Joshua out last Saturday for the first time, only for 1hr, we took him by special taxi, which was equipped to take him in his wheelchair to the local shopping mall, he got a couple of games for his game console. He was very tired, but he enjoyed it. If all goes well his mum plans to take him to the cinema, next Tuesday, I'm sure he will enjoy himself.

Joshua can now hold his head on his own, and when he has his body belt on he is able to be sat up.  He can now eat on his own without the nasal tube, which has made a huge difference to his quality of life, as he did not like the tube done his nose.  He still has no use of most of his fingers, but can use his thumb to press down on, which enables him to use his laptop and play on his dad's Xbox.  which he enjoys trying to beat his dad at his games.  He is receiving Physio and schooling at Stock Mandeville Hospital and has been in the pool.
